If Pictures Are Worth A Thousand Words...

...then these are the movies that used images so well that they remain vivid in my mind.

Pride and Prejudice
Never seen England with a little more sunshine than in this film. Kiera Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen are not bad looking either. I read somewhere that Kiera was almost not selected because she was too "pretty" for the role. That she is pretty is without a doubt but she also was light and airy and funny and with a real British accent to pull it off. And now she's nominated for a Golden Globe award for actress in a musical or comedy. "You must know - surely you must know that it was all for you... I would have to tell you, you have bewitched me body and soul and I love and love and love you. And never wish to be parted from you from this day forward."

Rent
I have to admit that I cried at the same parts of the movie and during the Broadway show. It was during the eulogy for Angel. Anthony Rapp reprises his role from the stage and he is good. Idina Williams (from Wicked) is also good. Her voice stands out from the rest. Pretty good movie but not as great as the Broadway show. Still...five hundred thirtysix thousand minutes... or whatever, remains an easily remembered line from a Broadway song.

Memoirs of A Geisha
From one of the most memorable books comes a memorable movie. This movie does the book justice (except the ending). Bai Ling is great and Ziyi Zhang is beautiful. The blue gray eyes are mesmerizing. The kimonos used are fabulous and must have cost a pretty penny. Cinematography and editing are excellent. The movie (and the book) is about not giving up for the one you love; that somehow, things will work out. The twists on that road leading to the end are what makes it interesting. After all, it is the journey, not the destination, that makes it all worthwhile.

Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire
Let me go ahead and say it: Harry is HOT! There is a scene where he is supposed to be naked in the baths to find the answer to a Triwizard competition quiz. Damn, he's hot! Hahaha! Not as good as The Prisoner of Azkaban, but this movie shows the beginning of the impending adulthood of Harry and his friends. The characters are then not as cookie cutter but allows them to explore personal feelings. There supposedly are two more books in the series; unless J.K. Rowlings milks the Harry series for what it's worth.
