The Devil Wears Prada

OMG! Funny as hell, the designer knock offs are too good, and acting is excellent! Go see!!!
The story is about a naive girl who works for the boss from hell. We've all been there: looking for that job that fulfills our ideals and pays the rent at the same time. But sometimes we have to make choices that would seem to put our values in question. In reality though, our decision plays on what our future will be. In the movie, Anne Hathaway puts up with Meryl Streep because she knows if she can last a year, it would be the ticket to any journalism job that she wants.
Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep) is a thinly disguised character based on Anna Wintour, the notorious editor-in-chief of Vogue. She's not on the screen a lot but when she is, you remember. From the hair, to the shoes, the fur and the purses, the arch of the eyebrow and way she speaks: cutting and chewing at the same time. Andy (Anne Hathaway) is a composite of every girl who has ever worked the fashion industry and its press. Ambitious with nerves of steel, she finally settles into her job, determined to last the year.
What was scary to me was I could identify the designers (they DO have their signature look regardless of the season!). Yes there was Prada (the fur coats and throws, the purses, shoes) but there were also Valentino, Manolo Blahnik, Chanel, Azzarro, Hermes, Narciso Rodriguez and Calvin Klein. That I could tell which is by whom was the scary part. And I don't even read Vogue that much!
There is some moral to the movie. You're not knocked on the head with it but if you pay attention and listen, you might find it.
