The Lake House

I'm a sucker for great love stories and this one is of them. A remake of the South Korean movie, Il Mare, this is a story of a doctor (Sandra Bullocks) who vacations in a Frank LLoyd Wright-inspired minimalist lakehouse. The house is owned by an architect (Keanu Reeves) who bought the house because it was where he spent some happy memories as a kid. His father designed and built the house for him and his mother.
In any case, doctor and architect happen to live two years apart and so everything that will happen to the architect, the doctor already knows. They exchange letters through the magical mailbox. Of course, they fall in love. Therein lies the crux of the story. Because of the time difference (two years), they couldn't be in the same place at the same time. Paul McCartney's song "This Never Happened Before" added to the melancholy and almost impossible chance of these two getting together. There are interesting subplots including the relationships between the architect and his father, the doctor with her mother. But this is a movie after all...the twist has to be resolved and the way it's done in this movie is...you have to see it.
Keanu Reeves is hot! That's all I gotta say about the man...
