Am Here!
It's hot, it's humid and the traffic is mindboggling. It must be Manila...
After what seemed like an interminable amount of time on air, I finally get here. I did like the new airport in Hongkong though. The duty free part is beautiful and transferring from one plane to another is a breeze; unlike Japan's Narita which is a zoo! The bad part is I get to arrive (and depart) from NAIA's terminal 1. This terminal serves all the international flights in and out of the Philippines so you can imagine the number of people here at any given time.
I was met by a stranger who was holding up a sign with my name on it. Turns out, he's my cousin's driver who came and picked me up. I do have some family business to take care of and so we went straight to Makati. There was not much I can do since businesses will be closed in observance of Maundy Thursday and Holy Friday. Everyone was trying to get their jobs done in anticipation of the four-day weekend. I did as much as I can and when done, I checked in at my hotel in Malate. I also confirmed dinner reservations with friends, showered and went to sleep.
I woke up around 5 pm local time and wondered where the heck I was. Then it was time to get ready and meet some of the most wonderful guys in this world! Anton came to the hotel and Michael also showed up. We took a cab to the Hyatt and met Joel and waited for Alvin and his date.
I missed these guys! It is great to catch up with them again.
