Bar 89

Maybe it's the bathrooms...or maybe they have the best burgers and peach iced tea that I have ever had!
Bar 89 is one of the coolest places in Soho in New York. Located on Mercer St., it is the perfect place to grab a bite or a drink whenever you're in this part of New York. The food is really good and cheap considering you're in one of the swank parts of New York. Relatively speaking, burgers are $10-14 and alcoholic drinks are about the same. Soho is home to some of the more high end stores including Prada and Louis Vuitton.
After shopping at Jack Spade, browsing at John Varvatos and Vuitton, going through the Jonathan Adler store and Uniqlo, hunger and thirst is what drove us to look for a place to eat and drink. Bar 89 just happens to be around the corner and off we go. The waitperson was really nice...a little ditzy but she was very efficient and friendly. None of the snobbish air that we usually hear about NY restaurants. Add some really cool and fun friends and it was definitely one of the highlights of this NY trip.
Oh yeah...the bathrooms. The doors are transparent when the stall is empty (see pic above) but once it's occupied, the neon lights changes color and the door becomes opaque, like a fog envelopes the little stall and no one can see you from the outside. Pretty cool, huh?
