Once Again... At the Edge

funny i find myself at this familiar place
at the edge of the abyss
that i have once fallen into...
no one to catch you
no one to save you...

we both know what we want to say
but we don't dare
if we utter the words
there will be no turning back
and we've fallen, once again, in this sea of emotions

it's never-ending,
it doesn't stop
it just goes deeper and deeper
until you can't see where you started
until you can't feel anymore...

what are we afraid of?
why do we hesitate?
will we ever make up our minds?
or do we walk away from the edge
to feel the safety of ordinariness?

we say we care for each other
but you and i know there's more
we hold on to each other
afraid to even let go for a moment
yet...we stop and pause at the edge

"jump!" say our hearts
but our minds scream "no!"
whom do we listen to?
it's loud and clear
our hearts beat together

we can't just stand here forever...
