Lost In The Clouds

San Francisco lost in the clouds...
Summer in San Francisco is an oxymoron: while the rest of the country is sweating (some parts with drought condition), San Francisco is covered in its special cocoon, the summer fog. Last week, there was one day when San Francisco was colder than Juneau, Alaska!
Like any other major destination, there's plenty of tourists in the city. You can easily tell them from the locals: they're lined up at the cable car queue on Powell and Market Streets wearing t-shirts and shorts. They think it will eventually warm up. What they don't know is that when you reach the peak of hills, the wind velocity and direction changes. So much so that the temperature drops another five to ten degrees. And then you get to the wharf where it's practically freezing! Don't get me wrong: I love these tourists! They spend all their hard-earned cash in one of the most expensive cities in the world. And all the city has to do is to reveal a little of itself. Like a stripper who shows a little flesh just to keep one's interest, San Francisco is much more desirable covered in fog.
Here's a little secret: the best times to visit San Francisco are late spring and fall. The tourists are nowhere in hordes that they are now and the weather is warmer.
