And When October Goes...

...And when October goes
The same old dream appears
And you are in my arms
To share the happy years
I turn my head away
To hide the helpless tears
Oh how I hate to see October go
I should be over it now I know
It doesn't matter much
How old I grow
I hate to see October go...
- Barry Manilow, "When October Goes"
It's been three weeks since I have been back from Manila. Time flies! I have had a hectic work
schedule since I wasn't here to "control" the days that I'm working. Oh well; I can't complain since I've had my fun. With the next schedule, I should be pretty much back on track. With some luck, I had been able to go out once in a while with friends to a movie, a shopping/dinner thing plus a trip to the Apple store for the new video iPod. I was also invited to a Halloween party tonight but it was in conflict with a really good friend's birthday dinner. Went to The Cafe for some dancing. I ended up drinking two Skyy cosmos, a Kamikaze jello shot, shared a Long Island Iced Tea and a bottle of water. To say I had a buzz going was putting it mildly! But I had fun and needed to get out. So there.
What the heck's been going on?
I had just spent $2K for the maintenance of my Saab 9-5. I had to get four new tires, change all the rotors and brake pads, change the battery and do its other routine maintenance. Shoot! If I knew I was going to spend that much, I would have bought a new car! But then again, it's been great not to have a monthly car payment.
There's plenty of movies that I want to see: "North Country", "In Her Shoes", "Shopgirl", "Garcon, Stupide", "Capote", "Proof", and "Good Night and Good Luck" to name a few. I will try to see at least two of them tomorrow.
Finally listened to Sharon Cuneta's CD of Ogie Alcasid's songs via iPod. Whomever engineered this record should be fired. The idea was good but I had never heard Sharon sound so bad! She was practically singing nasally the whole time. She sounded like she had a really bad cold while recording and you could almost hear the snot coming out of her nose! She was also sometimes overwhelmed by the backup singers and their vocal arrangements. In almost all of the songs, the backup singers were singing 90% of the time. The only saving grace was "Nandito Ako" with Ogie himself, which was the best engineered cut on this CD.
My horoscope for the last two days said that I should go out and flirt. Met two really nice guys. One, a Filipino and the other, a Vietnamese. I met Erwin (the Filipino) thru another friend. He's 38, an immigration lawyer and lives close by. He's pretty quiet but very funny. Olsen (the Vietnamese...I know...) is from San Jose. He's 35, a computer engineer in Silicon Valley and lives in San Jose. I came up to him and introduced myself after my friends noticed that he kept looking at me while we were in the club. And boy, he is a wicked dancer! Puts those go-go boys to shame! He is hot! Anyways, both guys asked for my number so we'll see what happens...
Daylight savings time is over. The nights here seem to be longer and days, shorter. It's been raining on and off and it's cooler outside. Fall is definitely here. Almost everyone is wearing a scarf and a heavy jacket now. Stores have begun to put up holiday decorations and once Thanksgiving is over on November, it's all downhill from then.

bullish: YES. the only exception is the duet with Ogie Alcasid. I thought it was just my the earbuds that came with my iPod so I tried listening to it with a $150 set of earbuds and it was worse! Finally, I tried listening to it with the Bose triport headsets and that's when I could hear the snot flowing down her nose! Yuck!

Give me the trilogy anytime! Even Mr DJ sounded better!
