Help Wanted

This past week, I have had three job interviews. I felt like I need a career change (not a drastic one though) so three weeks ago, I decided to send out my resume to four different organizations. Surprisingly (or not), I received positive responses from all of them. I have one more interview set for early part of next week. But how does one make a choice from what's being offered?

Job 1 - pretty much the same as I'm doing now but for more money which is always a plus. Minuses include I could do this job in my sleep and commute time becomes 30 minutes longer assuming light traffic.

Job 2 - a part-time only job. Pay is as good as current job. I could keep my current job and only do this other one when and if I want. So flexible scheduling and work on my own hours are pluses. The job requires travel about 90% of the time using my own car. Hmmm...I really don't care so much about driving specially around the parts of the city where parking is a bitch although I will get mileage and parking fees (but not tickets) reimbursed.

Job 3 - strictly office/administrative type. Would require supervising others and dressing up everyday. Ugh! Pay is comparable and won't have to deal with patients. Hmmm...

Job 4 - coordinator of patient care for a genetic research company for a new medicine. Sounds important but not really. Pay is a little more but the benefits are great (which includes same sex partner benefits!). Dressing up everyday again!

I usually base my job choices on gut feeling once I enter the place of a future employer during the initial interview. That gut feeling tells me how "hard" to work the interview so I would look good and be offered the position. I also look at the other employees to see if they "look" happy or are "just there". This last one is important for me specially if the job I'm going for requires supervising other employees.

So by next week, I might have a new job... Or not.
